Hightail Logo.jpgIn light of Earth Day I thought it would be nice to talk a little bit about how being a Hightail user you are already helping the environment. And you thought you were just saving money and time by using us for online storage and sharing large files? See some of the stats below on how you are saving the enviroment:

  • Over 31TB of digital content is sent, received, and tracked daily using Hightail, which equals 40,000 CDs. If you don’t know, CDs and DVDs are not biodegradable. More than a billion CDs and DVDs are expected to end up in landfills in the next five years. Also, three pounds of CO2 are released for every CD and DVD manufactured!

  • Over 34 million file transfers per month. This is 34M sheets of paper is equivalent to 4,093 trees.

  •  17 Reams of paper equals one tree. Every time you ship, for example sending a package 200 miles releases 130lbs of CO2 into the atmosphere.

  • Every ream of paper saved conserves over 100 gallons of water.

So if you cannot do anything extra this Earth Day, like plant a tree, makes sure you continue to share files electronically! Hightail is not only saving you time and money, but most importantly saving our environment.
